Spaying & Neutering

We strongly recommend that all owners consider having their pet spayed or neutered. Millions of pets are euthanized because there are not enough homes. There are also health issues to consider.

Spaying females:

  • Eliminates unwanted heat cycles
  • Eliminates the inconvenience of protecting from males
  • Prevents unwanted pregnancy
  • Decreases risk of mammary, ovarian, and uterine cancer or infection
  • Controls pet population
Neutering males:
  • Decreases/eliminates spraying to "mark" territory
  • Eliminates urine odor associated with tomcats
  • Eliminates roaming for females
  • Decreases aggression and fighting
  • Decreases risk of prostate and testicular cancer
  • Controls pet population
The best time for spaying/neutering is at six months old. This will not change your pet's personality, except to make him/her a better pet.

We spay/neuter dogs and cats by appointment on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Dogs and male cats almost always go home the same evening. Female cats must remain hospitalized the night of the procedure.

Texas state law requires that all dogs and cats have current rabies vaccinations. Reduced rates are available for pets in the clinic for surgery.

Distemper, rhinotracheitis, calici, and rabies vaccinations cost $15.00 for cats at the time of surgery.

DA2LP parvo and rabies vaccines for dogs cost $17.00 at the time of surgery.
