All puppies should receive Strongid T (roundworm and hookworm medication) every two weeks, beginning as early as four weeks of age. A very high percentage of puppies have roundworms, and some have hookworms. These can infect small children.

A fecal exam at this age is also recommended.

PUPPY VACCINATIONS
To establish an adequate immunity, all puppies need a minimum of two DA2LP/PARVO vaccines, with the second injection given after 12-1/2 weeks of age. To provide the best chance of immunity, a parvo vaccination is recommended every three weeks until they reach 27 weeks of age.

Four weeks after the rabies vaccine and every three to four weeks thereafter until the puppy is 27 weeks old, there will be a $12.00 charge for a parvo booster.

After the Puppy Series:
The DA2LP/parvo/RV is boostered once a year. The parvo should be boostered every six months.

An annual physical exam, fecal exam, and heartworm exam are also recommended.

Because of the year-round mosquito activity in this area, it is recommended that all dogs be kept on heartworm preventative all months of the year.
